Some people think that in order to make a difference in the world, we have to have a lot more time and a lot more money to spare. Yet, that’s not always the case.
The truth is that just about anyone can make a difference, even the little guy. For example, even though father and husband Bryan Ware is far from rich and carefree, he’s still doing his part.
With just a little hard work and one clever idea, Bryan is changing the life of thousands in the most amazing way!
One of the most common complaints that you’re likely to hear about modern life is how wasteful people can be sometimes. Food, water, and electricity are just a few of the resources that we don’t seem to value enough as a society.

Resources tend to be wasted by the people who can most easily afford them, which is a shame because there are so many people around the world who could use the things that others take for granted.

It’s also easy to forget that, even beyond the basic necessities, we undervalue things that other people would appreciate having. Luckily, at least one man realized that he could go something to curb wastefulness, and it was all pretty simple…
At first glance here, you’d be forgiven for thinking that father Brian Ware is cooking up some sort of sickly-looking soup, à la Nickelodeon slime. Yet, the truth is far more impressive than that!
Brian is actually melting down a huge number of crayons in his very own kitchen for an incredible project called the Crayon Initiative. It may sound like something for a preschool classroom, but it’s absolutely worth taking seriously.
Not so long ago, Brian noticed that a great deal of the crayons that restaurants give to children to play with while they wait for their meals simply end up in the garbage. Realizing just how wasteful that was, he came up with a brilliant idea.
Brian thought about all the children, particularly those suffering from serious disadvantages, who could love to use crayons that would otherwise simply be thrown out. Naturally, he started a charitable organization based around connecting the discarded crayons to these kids!
Now, Brian uses the old crayons that he finds to melt them down and create roughly 4,000 brand-new crayons every day. Not only that, but he does it all from the comfort of his own home, which is filled to the brim with them!
It’s definitely an impressive accomplishment, but in order to really get a sense of just what kind of impact Brian is making, just watch the video below—and let this clever dad tell you about it himself!
It’s truly amazing to think about how something like a crayon—which is so often seen as cheap, disposable, and frivolous—can actually mean a world of difference to the young people who could really use them.
It’ll definitely be difficult to ever look at crayons the same way again. This is such a great idea! Please visit The Crayon Initiative to see how you can help.
