Looking back, most of us would agree there were certain aspects of our prom experiences that could have been a lot better. Whether it was what you wore, who you brought, or a dance move you had no business trying to pull off, nobody's prom is ever perfect, not even for future celebrities. Despite their fame and success, plenty of big-name stars were once awkward high school kids just like the rest of us — and we have their prom pictures to prove it!
1. Jimmy Fallon
"My date went tanning the night before. I did not. I looked like Powder," Jimmy tweeted about his high school prom photo — and he's not wrong. Other students might have been worried that an actual ghost was attending the dance. Hopefully, the school hired some kind of priest to exorcise ghost Jimmy.
2. Kerry Washington
If you've seen Scandal or Django Unchained, then you already know Kerry Washington is a superstar. It's odd to see her as flower-loving teen after watching her play such strong characters. "I'm throwin' it back…to prom! Well, one of em. I went to a few. Tee hee," Kerry wrote.
3. Matthew McConaughey
This is one of the most shocking prom pics we've seen. Matthew McConaughey has been a catch since his mid-2000s romantic comedies — it's so weird seeing him as this little teenager with a friendly smile on his face. We're guessing this was before he started saying, "alright, alright, alright."
4. Will Ferrell
And the crown goes to… Will Ferrell! Well, we can't say if he actually was prom king or just stole the crown from someone else, but it's nice to know Will has always been funny. You know you're dating a good guy when he doesn't care about looking silly in a photo you'll have forever. Definitely a green flag.
