Celebrities Who Are Also Unexpectedly Great Cooks

When you think of celebrities like Snoop Dogg or Lady Gaga, you probably don’t picture them in the kitchen. Maybe you even assume they have all their meals cooked for them by private chefs. Well, think again, because Snoop and Gaga actually know a thing or two about cooking great food! And they’re not the only ones, either. Just when we thought the following celebrities couldn’t get any more talented, we discovered they’re surprisingly impressive cooks, too.

1. Oprah Winfrey

On the Oprah Winfrey Show back in 2006 the titular guru called out a chef on his award-winning million-dollar chicken dinner for skimping out on the seasoning. It showed that Oprah doesn’t just feed your mind with her wisdom — she also knows how to feed your stomach!

Oprah released her own cookbook called Food, Health and Happiness in 2017. “Food is supposed to be about joy, not suffering,” she wrote inside. .When you eat consciously and well, you feed your body and your spirit. And that makes all life more delicious!”

2. Julia Roberts

Sure, Julia Roberts has an Oscar, a BAFTA, and three Golden Globes to her name, but if you ask us she should be winning awards for her cooking, too! The actress and mom loves spending time at home with her family, and often that involves preparing a tasty meal for them — but this foodie is no amateur.

“I’m quite a good cook,” Roberts told E! News in 2013. “I'm like a closet home-ec teacher… I can really cook anything.” What’s her favorite dish to make? When the holidays roll around, it’s all about one thing in the Roberts household. “My oldest son loves stuffing,” the actress explained. “I grew up loving stuffing. It's in the genes. I'm from Georgia — stuff me!”

3. Eva Longoria

Putting the lamb in glamor — okay, it works better when you say it out loud — Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame knows the best way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. It’s not a recent epiphany for her, either. She’s been comfortable in the kitchen since she was young.

For Longoria, cooking is more than just food. It's love! “There’s nothing like a homemade meal and sharing memories in the kitchen with your loved ones,” she wrote on Instagram in 2022. She even has her own cookbook called Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking With Love for Family & Friends.

4. Freddie Prinze Jr.

You know, if Freddie Prinze Jr. hadn’t become an actor, he might have become a chef! Before going into acting, he was all set to take up the apron professionally and nearly went to culinary school. But even though he chose a different career path, it doesn’t mean he’s lost the taste for cooking.

“I love cooking for people,” Prinze Jr. told Bon Appétit in 2016. “Restaurants are great, but when we’re in our own living room, we can have Michael Jackson and Prince playing in the background.” He also has his own cookbook, Back to the Kitchen! In it, he says, are “75 delicious, real recipes (& true stories) from a food-obsessed actor.”
