Rita Coolidge Admitted Her Bond With Kris Kristofferson Is Beyond Any Kind Of Understanding

Was there a more noteworthy showbiz love story in the 1970s than the romance between Rita Coolidge and Kris Kristofferson? From beginning to end, it was quite the tale, and it came with plenty of ups and downs. After penning her autobiography, though, Coolidge made some remarkable comments in an interview about her long-term ex.

Power couple

At the peak of their relationship, Kristofferson and Coolidge were arguably the hottest thing going in the ’70s music scene. Without overstating it, they were a force! You see, the loved-up duo, who’d tied the knot by that point, came together to produce a few duet records, all of which proved highly successful.

Success at the Grammys

Yes, Coolidge and Kristofferson bagged their first Grammy as a pair in 1974. The song “From the Bottle to the Bottom” earned them the Best Country Vocal by a Duo or Group gong. Then, they took home that prize again in 1976 thanks to “Lover Please.” It was a very fruitful period!

Surprising comments...

As we noted earlier, though, this love story didn’t last forever, and actually it came to a rather dramatic end. So, keeping that in mind, what Coolidge had to say about Kristofferson during a chat with People magazine in March 2016 was really quite surprising.

An early start

Who says celebrity romances are boring? Anyway, the bright lights of show business seemed a million miles away for Coolidge when she began performing. She was, after all, just a toddler at the time. The singer went into more detail while talking to magazine Indian Artist.
