Teens Witness Car Crash In Front Of School, Then Jump To Act In Life-Altering Rescue

As students continued to file into Rome High School on a beautiful summer morning, all appeared to be well. But that soon changed. Suddenly, the peace and tranquility was shattered by the sound of screeching tires and twisting metal — a nasty car crash on a nearby road. Instead of fleeing from the terrifying scene, a group of teenagers ran towards the wreckage. What they found didn't stop them in their tracks, but pushed them into action.

In a split second

A woman was traveling down the aforementioned road in Rome, Georgia, in August 2022. The moments before the collision were peaceful and still: she was fully focused on her surroundings and kept a watchful eye over the passing scenery. But when she approached an intersection, another vehicle moved directly into her path. With only seconds to react, she quickly dodged the car.

Swerving into trouble

By veering away from the truck, which appeared via an illegal turn, the lady was now facing the oncoming cars at the intersection. In the blink of an eye, one of those motors smashed into the hood of her vehicle. And to make matters even more concerning, the car in question had an elderly couple sitting in the front seats.

A teacher’s perspective

At the time this all happened, a teacher at Rome High School happened to be standing outside before classes began for the day. His name is Luis Goya, and he shared his perspective on the dramatic events in a Facebook post in August 2022. According to him, one car in particular seemed to be in a very bad state.

“Couldn’t get out”

Goya’s Facebook post read, “While I was in front of the school during my morning duty, I heard a loud noise at the intersection that appeared to be a wreck. While I was running to the intersection, I noticed that two cars were involved. There was a 50-year-old lady trapped in her car and [she] couldn’t get out.” That wasn’t even the worst of it.
